Acai Juice Blend Juice Shots vs. Daily Recommended Fruit
Posted on September 7, 2007
The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) recommends 5 to 9 servings of fruit and vegetables a day. The USDA’s “Dietary Guidelines for Americans – 2005” recommends 4 to 5 servings of fruit on a 2000 calorie a day diet. The USDA classifies 1 serving as 1/2 a cup of fresh fruits or natural juice (without sugars added). Two examples are listed below showing the amount and types of fruit the average person would have to consume to meet the USDA’s recommendation.
Example 1
- 1 banana (8 inches long) = 2 servings
- 1 small orange = 1 serving
- 1/2 cup of strawberries = 1 serving
- 15–20 grapes = 1 serving
Example 2
- 1 gala apple = 2 servings
- 1/2 cup of fruit cocktail = 1 serving
- 1/2 cup of orange juice = 1 serving
- 1 large plum = 1 serving
Now let’s make the grocery list for 2 people, 1 week. We will use example 1 – 4 days and example 2 – 3 days.
- 4 bananas, 4 oranges, 2 cups of strawberries, 3 bunches of grapes (50 per bunch), 3 gala apples, 1 1/2 cups of fruit cocktail, 1 container of orange juice, 3 large plums
For this article I will not even get into the monetary expense of purchasing these fruits, we will strictly keep to the hassle, waste, and difficulty of getting all this fruit. Purchasing fresh fruit can be done in the United States pretty much year around with imports and our agricultural system. My wife and I personally purchase as many organic foods as possible because we think that the chemicals and preservatives on commercially grown foods are not good for us. We will get into the subject of organics in latter articles. At least 5% to 15% of the fruit that you purchase for the week will go into the garbage because of the fruit spoiling. You may decide that you want no waste and go every day to the grocery store and that would eliminate the waste but would deplete you most precious asset – TIME. Most people will also run into the problem sometime during the year of finding enough fruit that they like to meet the daily recommended value. Let’s just say that some how you could over come the hassle and waste and do buy 4 to 5 servings a day. Let’s say that you commit to eating the 4 to 5 servings a day. Let’s say you have diligently eaten all this fruit for 28 days, not missing a single day. By the end of 28 days, would you not get tired of eating all that fruit!
This is our suggestion………………
- Do not worry about buying any fruit, except for your enjoyment and taste buds.
- Make sure you get the recommended fruit intake for your health.
- Make sure you eat a variety of colors for their phytonutrients.
- Eat the fruits with the highest antioxidant content.
- Get the fruit / juice delivered to your house.
- Do not forget about the “forgotten” fruits from around the world.

[...] The most amazing thing about Redstone drinking MonaVie to me is that he is a billionaire. Do not get me wrong, Im not impressed that he is rich and drinking MonaVie. I think it is amazing because with his vast resources and money, he chooses MonaVie as a product to help himself and his friends. Redstone says, Since Ive beenon MonaVie I havent taken a sleeping pill. With Redstones resources he could basically be taking any drug, shot, or buying any supplement he wanted. I suspect that he, like many others,is drinking MonaVie because it works.Thevast majorityof the American population is not getting the daily recommended fruits. With MonaVie you not only get the daily recommended fruits you need, but you get it by just drinking 2 to 4 ounces a day. The most precious resource any of us has is time, why spend it trying to buy fruits at the grocery store. Many of the fruits in MonaVie are not even available to the Western World. [...]

[...] Fresh, organic fruits and vegetables are essential to a healthy, nutritional diet.Fruits and vegetables are packed full of fiber, vitamins, minerals, and enzymes that are critical to being balanced and health. The USDArecommends 5 to 9 servings of fruits and vegetables daily. Why would the USDA recommend so many servings? It is quite simple, the benefits of fresh fruits and vegetables are essential to being healthy. While I do not always agree with the USDAs recommendations, they have my full support on this one. It might even be a little on the low side. [...]
Thanks for writing this, I live in Wisconsin and
have been told to go to the Farmers Markets whenever
possible to get fresh fruits and vegetables that are in season. Well, that would only give me 3 months to
give my body what it needs to get the best nutrients. So I was juicing, eating apples, oranges
and dried fruits in the winter. Like you said, most of what I bought would go bad within days. I was wasting my hard earned money but had good intentions.
Now I drink 3 oz. of Mona Vie 2xs a Day and I feel so much better. I think I might be saving money, and its less time consuming than juicing everyday.
